UPCOMING I DRVEGRD 169
CORNER RADAR

Installed on a driving platform, smartmicro's newest radar spans a fine grid for detecting and separating objects in its field of view. DRVEGRD 169 is a highly-innovative sensor aiming to increase safety by detecting potential collisions, triggering warning signals, and supporting automated safety functions.
- User-selectable operation modes, antennas, and frequencies: 76GHz to 81GHz
- 4 Dimensions (4D): range, speed, azimuth and elevation angle
- Pixel-High Definition (PxHD) resolution: true angular separation
- Blind and misalignment diagnosis, interference suppression
- Plug-and-play 360° sensor data fusion
For On-Road and Industrial Use Cases:
TECHNICAL DETAILS
- Field of view of 140°+ horizontally
- Coverage of 28° in elevation
- Range interval of 0.1 to 130 meters (426.5 ft)
- True range (10cm/3.9 in) and speed separation (0.1m/s) of objects
ADJUSTABLE OPERATION MODES
DRVEGRD 169 is a 79 GHz (76GHz to 81GHz) radar sensor with adjustable software-defined operation modes, antennas, and frequencies, to faultlessly cover the field of view in each use case.
NEWEST TECHNOLOGY
The radar’s hardware includes NXP's latest 16nm-FinFET Radar MCU S32R29, as well as RF CMOS Radar Transceiver TEF82xx.
INCREASED PERFORMANCE
DRVEGRD 169 has significantly boosted processing power, increased output of point clouds, and higher resolution - targeting ASIL-B (SEooC) and NCAP.
RELIABLE TECHNOLOGY
Thanks to the sensor's almost unbreakable design, its performance is unaffected by harsh weather conditions and works in critical environments.
Use Cases
AUTONOMOUS ROBOTS
Warehouses all over the world are getting increasingly automated, which allows them to improve efficiency. With the rising extent of machine autonomy, advanced safety systems are a priority. One way of ensuring high safety standards is to use integrated technology for autonomous driving.
By performing highly accurate real-time object detection, DRVEGRD 169 makes your robots ready for human-robot collaboration.
CONSTRUCTION APPLICATIONS
15% of fatal work-related accidents on construction sites in Germany in 2019 were caused by collisions with moving heavy construction vehicles. A reliable 360° coverage around fast-moving vehicles is necessary to ensure safety in the areas that are hardly observable for the driver.
PARKING APPLICATIONS
60,000 injuries and over 500 deaths yearly - according to data presented by National Safety Council, that is the outcome of accidents in the parking lots and garages in the USA alone. Many of these are caused by drivers' false sense of safety due to driving at a slow speed. DRVEGRD 169 detects all surrounding obstacles, even those difficult to notice for the driver. This way, the radar increases the safety of all road users by minimizing the risk of engaging in a dangerous situation.
