One of our partners in Asia, Saftec, has deployed smartmicro technology on various sites in Japan for a project based upon the claim "Zero tolerance for accidents caused by wrong-way driving". smartmicro sensors were installed alongside a set of supporting devices: a display, webcam, and control panel. The LED display was warning the drivers going in the wrong direction about their error. A webcam and a control panel sent images of the incident with a warning signal to the Traffic Control Center through the control panel network.
The conclusion after deploying the technology was definitive: smartmicro’s traffic sensors are incredibly easy to install and offer a greatly reliable detection solution. The project's final results are still under evaluation. So far, the smartmicro sensors have achieved a 100% accuracy in detecting wrong-way drivers. Saftec is currently deploying more of our radar sensors at six sites in Japan from North to South and expects to be expanding the project.
