Traffic detection upgrade in Ireland

Together with Civic, smartmicro recently supported two site upgrades in the Dublin area, replacing existing COM HUB Relay units with the new COM HUB Hybrid.

The goal: improve vehicle classification and enable fusion-based detection while continuing to use the existing radar infrastructure. With firmware upgrades for the installed radar sensors and new COM HUB Hybrid units in the cabinets, both sites are now prepared for more advanced traffic detection capabilities.
The installations include a multi-radar setup at a busy junction and a standalone radar setup monitoring one approach at Dublin Port.

Further software optimization is ongoing, but the project already shows how existing smartmicro installations can be upgraded toward more advanced hybrid detection and classification.
