Imaging radar is especially strong where high angular resolution is of importance. That applies to Level 2+ automation whenever complex scenarios - such as a stopped vehicle under a bridge or in a tunnel - need to be covered. With their image-like resolution, imaging radars are expected to see objects with high contrast for performing simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM).
Continuing the successful collaboration with NXP Semiconductors, smartmicro is taking sensor technology to the next level by developing a 4D imaging radar sensor. The sensor will have NXP's 6th generation flagship radar processor S32R45, which cascades four TEF8232 transceivers to deliver 1° angular resolution at a distance of up to 300 m.
