Radar-based advance detection in Poland

Together with our partner Viaoptima, smartmicro technology was recently used at a signalized intersection to detect vehicles earlier on the approach. The detection zones were configured approximately 140–150 m before the stop line, giving the traffic control system more time to react to approaching vehicles.

This supports more responsive green signal extension, especially where existing in-road detection is positioned closer to the intersection and vehicle gaps can affect signal efficiency.

Another practical example of how above-ground radar detection can support smoother traffic flow and modern intersection management.
