Connected driving via I2V communication - a collaboration with Volkswagen, ASTech and Nordsys

In the V2X project with ASTEch, Volkswagen AG and NORDSYS, we focused on Infrastructure-to-Vehicle (I2V) communication at an intersection.

There are many ways in which sensor technology increases the safety of all road users. In the V2X project with Automotive Safety Technologies GmbHVolkswagen AG and NORDSYS GmbH, we focused on Infrastructure-to-Vehicle (I2V) communication at an intersection. The data transfer from the radar sensor to the vehicle's onboard system helps drivers stay alert of their surroundings.

A sensor installed at the roadside detects an object or vulnerable road user, including its position and velocity. Additionally, the object type is determined, for example, as a pedestrian or cyclist. With the help of #V2X communication, the sensor communicates with connected vehicles regarding the detected VRU object on the road. If a potentially dangerous situation is perceived, an audio-visual warning is triggered to alert the driver.
